Dear friends, I have recently (accidentally) become obsessed with the show The Buried Life. Upon first hearing about the show I thought it was going to be another group of MTV douche bags doing whatever they wanted in the style of Viva La Bam, and that I was going to be raging with jealousy that MTV would never pay for me to do anything. However, as a constant reoccurring theme in my life is "everything I hate I love," I gave the show a chance anyway and, of course, I'm now hooked.
In case you're unfamiliar, this show is about four guys who made a list of 100 things to do before they die. They're traveling around the country in their bus (that MTV did NOT pay for) and attempting to complete as many items on the list as they can. On top of this, for everything they accomplish on their list they help a stranger do something on theirs. This is the part that gets me. I can't believe what genuinely nice guys they are. I'm pretty much near tears every week (this week I cried my eyes out :/) seeing the things they do for people. It's like Extreme Home Makeover meets Road Rules. It's all I've ever wanted out of tv.
Anyway, the moral of this story is why didn't we ever think to do something like this with our lives? I guess, personally, I just don't have that kinda guts to get out there and try, but I'd really like to change that. This all goes along with the theme of this blog, that being 2010livethedream. I think I'd really like to start living this year instead of just talking about it. So far that's been going really well but I think watching this show every Monday works as a weekly reminder. What's stopping us from really living? Nothing but ourselves.

So maybe we can come up with some things that aren't as far out of reach as we think. Off the top of my head I'd like to: jump in the pacific ocean, take a siesta in Spain, attend red head day, and meet the boys from The Buried Life. Maybe this is the year for some of that, maybe not, but I'll do them all someday. In closing, I have to ask, what do you want to do before you die?
